Two robbers pepper-sprayed a woman and tried to take her bag Monday evening on a Red Line train in Lakeview, police said. No arrests have been made.
The victim, age 20, told police a man tried to grab a bag off her back as she stepped off the train at the Belmont station around 10:40 p.m. When the victim pulled her bag back, a woman sprayed her in the face with a chemical, according to CPD spokesperson Kellie Bartoli.
Both offenders fled into the train station and headed north on Sheffield. The victim, who declined medical treatment, managed to maintain control of her property, Bartoli said.
No one is in custody. Area North detectives are investigating.
