Rogers Park: Man grazed in Monday night shooting

A 37-year-old man was grazed by a bullet during a drive-by shooting in Rogers Park late Tuesday, police said. No one is in custody. He is the second person to be shot in the neighborhood since Sunday afternoon.

The victim was standing on the sidewalk with friends when someone fired shots from a gold sedan on the 1400 block of West Sherwin around 11:15 p.m., according to police.

One round struck the back of the man’s right leg, causing a minor injury. He declined medical attention.

Officers found two shell casings in an alley near Greenview and Sherwin.

Area North detectives are investigating.

On Sunday, a bullet grazed a 38-year-old woman’s chest when someone opened fire on the vehicle she was sitting in on 1500 block of West Jonquil Terrace around 4:12 p.m. The woman was treated and released from St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.  No one is in custody for that incident.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
