One dead, another critical after separate shootings in Rogers Park

Update June 29, 7:31AM — The Cook County medical examiner’s office has identified the homicide victim as 36-year-old Angelo Pullum of the 1300 block of West Birchwood.

A man is dead and a woman is in critical condition following separate shootings Sunday morning in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

Most recently, a man was found unresponsive in the 1400 block of West Lunt after 911 callers reported hearing gunfire at 6:59 a.m.

Witnesses reported seeing the gunman walk up behind the victim, fire one shot into his head, and then get into a black SUV that fled westbound on Lunt. The victim was pronounced dead less than 30 minutes later at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.

Police gave the victim’s age as 19 in a media statement, but medical records and CPD arrest files list his age as 36.

Earlier, a 32-year-old woman was critically wounded in a shooting on the 1700 block of West Juneway at 5:42 a.m., police said. The victim was riding in a car when gunshots were fired nearby. One round came through the vehicle’s rear window and grazed the woman on the left side of her head, according to police.

The driver of the car took the woman to St. Francis for treatment.
