Update 12:59 PM: Chicago police have released surveillance images of a suspect in this case as well as the July 9 homicide nearby.

Police Friday morning found a 53-year-old homeless man critically injured from stab wounds in Grant Park — just steps from where another homeless man was found stabbed to death two weeks ago.

Officers located the latest victim near Grant Skate Park on the 1100 block of South Michigan around 6:50 a.m. He was bleeding heavily from stab wounds to his head and neck, according to a CPD report.

Police said an attacker stabbed the victim about 10 minutes before officers discovered him and radioed for an ambulance. Fire department personnel transported the victim to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

On July 9, police found a 58-year-old homeless man named Aaron Curry lying dead in Grant Park with stab wounds to his back and neck. Curry’s body was located near the Agora sculpture, just yards from where Friday’s attack unfolded.

The Cook County medical examiner subsequently ruled Curry’s death to be a homicide. No arrests have been made in either attack. Area Three detectives are investigating both cases.
