Fishermen find homicide victim in river near Lane Tech

Two fishermen discovered a woman’s body in the Chicago River near Lane Tech High School overnight, according to authorities. Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. 

The men found the victim as they fished near the 3400 block of North Rockwell at approximately 12:14 a.m. Sunday, according to a CPD report.  According to the Cook County medical examiner, the woman was found a 3600 North Rockwell, which is at the Addison Street bridge.

Police said the victim, who appears to be a woman in her early 20’s, had multiple stab wounds to her neck and face area. She was pronounced dead at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

The woman was wearing a black shirt with black jeans, according to police. Neither CPD nor the medical examiner had identified the woman as of 6:30 a.m.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
