Man shot during robbery in Wicker Park, police say

An out-of-town visitor was shot in the hand during a robbery Sunday evening in Wicker Park, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.

The 26-year-old man was walking when an offender approached him and took his wallet at gunpoint around 9:30 p.m. Police said the victim was shot once in his left hand during the robbery.

He initially told police that he thought the hold-up happened near North Avenue and California Avenue, but police currently list the 1300 block of North Western as the address of the crime.

The victim walked in to Norwegian Hospital for treatment and was listed in good condition, police said. No arrests have been made. Police did not release a description of the gunman.
