Streeterville: Men rob concealed carry holder at gunpoint

A concealed carry gun owner was outmatched by three men who robbed her at gunpoint in Streeterville early Saturday.

The 23-year-old woman was legally carrying a concealed handgun as she sat on a bench in the 400 block of North New Street around 3:45 a.m. That’s when three men approached her and demanded her property at gunpoint, according to Officer Jessica Rocco, a police spokesperson. The woman turned over her valuables, which included her handgun, according to a CPD report.

An officer at the scene said the victim provided video of the offender’s vehicle, which bore a license plate that beings with BN7.

The woman was not injured. Area Three detectives are investigating.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
