Burglary alert issued for Lincoln Park neighborhood

A serial burglar has forced his way into at least three homes in Lincoln Park over the past couple of weeks, according to Chicago police. No one’s been arrested so far.

In a community alert issued Monday night, Area Three detectives said the prowler enters homes by breaking the glass on front doors or removing screens to enter through open windows.

Detectives linked three cases to the pattern Monday:

  • on the 700 block of West Belden during the evening of September 16
  • on the 600 block of West Fullerton during the morning of September 24
  • on the 2100 block of North Cleveland during the afternoon of October 2

Police did not release a description of the offender. However, they encouraged residents to keep doors and windows locked.

Anyone with information about the crimes can contact investigators at 312-744-8263 regarding pattern P20-3-184.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
