Cops seek driver who plowed through Buckingham Fountain fence

Police are looking for a motorist who crashed through a fence surrounding Buckingham Fountain on Saturday morning, September 26.

The fountain itself was not damaged during the 4:48 a.m. incident, but repairs to the southern portion of the fence will cost about $100,000, police said.

The offender then fled the scene in their black or dark gray General Motors SUV that may be a Chevy Traverse, police said. It sustained damage to its front and sides, including the bumper and lights, according to a bulletin from CPD’s Major Accident Investigation Unit.

Investigators did not release any images of the actual vehicle, but they said the SUV looks similar to the stock photo above.
