A 46-year-old Oak Park man is in fair condition after someone shot him in the Uptown neighborhood Tuesday evening, according to a CPD report.
According to Chicago police and a witness, the victim was sitting in his BMW on the 4600 block of North Winthrop when a gunman opened fire on him from a nearby sidewalk. An ambulance transported him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
A witness reported seeing the gunman run southbound on Winthrop after the shooting. They said the shooter is a Black male in a gray hoodie who stands 5’9” to 6’1” tall.
Online records show the victim is an amateur photographer who works in corporate information technology. He is the 15th person to be shot in Uptown this year. The neighborhood had 14 shooting victims in all of 2019. Four of this year’s shooting victims have died, compared to two last year.
