A woman was cut, battered, and robbed of her new puppy while walking it on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park on Thursday morning, police said. No one is in custody.

The victim, age 40, told police she was walking her dog on the 1700 block of North Milwaukee around 9 pa.m. when a man and woman asked if they could pet her two-month-old white Pomeranian-Poodle Mix, according to CPD spokesperson Kellie Bartoli.

Suddenly, the offenders grabbed the puppy, named “Blue,” and a struggle ensued with the victim. Bartoli said the woman released the dog because she heard it crying in pain during the tussle.

The followed them as they escaped with the puppy, but she stopped upon realizing she had been cut by an unknown object during the struggle, Bartoli said. She later went to Rush Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police said the offenders are a Black male between 30- and 35-years-old and a Hispanic woman in her 20’s.

Blue, the two-month-old Pomapoo, has white fur with a tan streak from the tip of the nose to the tail, Bartoli said. Area Five detectives are investigating.
