Woman carjacked by armed men in Loop

A group of armed men carjacked a woman in the Loop on Tuesday afternoon, police said. No arrests have been made.

The 42-year-old woman told police she was getting into her parked car when four or five men approached her with multiple firearms in the 700 block of South LaSalle around 1:45 p.m., said Officer Steve Rusanov, a CPD spokesperson. She complied with their demands to turn over her 2013 Jeep Cherokee, which the offenders took from the scene.

Rusanov said the men were last seen heading northbound on LaSalle in the woman’s vehicle. She was not injured. Witnesses said the offenders arrived in a black Toyota RAV-4 with dealer plates.

Area Three detectives are investigating.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
