Armed carjackings reported in Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square, Rogers Park on Sunday

At least three armed carjackings were reported Sunday in Lincoln Park, Rogers Park, and Lincoln Square, according to CPD records. No arrests have been made. Here are the details of each incident from Chicago police:

Lincoln Square

A 42-year-old woman told police that four men displayed a handgun and ordered her out of her car as she sat on the 2300 block of West Eastwood around 12:50 p.m., according to CPD spokesperson Kellie Bartoli.

The woman began screaming and dropped her phone, causing the men to run from the scene — although one of them took a couple of seconds to steal the woman’s phone before he sprinted away, Bartoli said.

According to the victim, the gunman is a Hispanic man between 21- and 25-years-old who wore a camouflage jacket and jeans. His accomplices were described only as Hispanic men.

Minutes after the carjacking attempt, a group of men drove away with a silver Dodge Caravan that had been left running and unoccupied outside a cellular store on the corner of Western and Lawrence avenues. Police are trying to determine if the incidents are related.

Rogers Park

Two men carjacked and robbed two victims who were parking a gray 2016 Honda Fit in an alley on the 7000 block of North Sheridan around 5:58 p.m.

The offenders displayed a handgun, threatened the victims, and demanded their property. They then got into the Honda and drove away northbound.

Bartoli said the victims, a 32-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, were not injured. They described the carjackers as two Black males between 20- and 25-years-old. One suspect stands about 5’11” tall and the other is about 5’7” tall, they said.

About an hour after the incident, a Honda Fit similar to the one taken in Rogers Park was used by armed carjackers who took a woman’s Bentley in Chinatown, according to the @SPOTNEWSonIG Twitter account. Another Twitter user posted video of the stolen Bentley speeding down a street followed by the Honda:

Lincoln Park

Around 8:35 p.m., a 24-year-old man was sitting in the passenger seat of a black Audi A3 in the 2600 block of North Lakeview when a gunman climbed into the driver’s seat, pointed a gun at him, and ordered him to get out, Bartoli said.

The man complied and the carjacker sped away westbound on Deming Place with the car.

According to the victim, the carjacker is a Black male in his 20’s who wore a black hooded sweatshirt.

The victim’s phone, which was in the vehicle when the carjacker sped away, was located in the 2400 block of North Clark a few minutes later.

Area Three detectives are investigating all of the carjackings.
