Driver detained after crashing into police barricades at Trump Tower

Charges are pending after a woman intentionally drove around police officers and crashed into a barricade outside Trump International Hotel & Tower early Tuesday, according to a CPD media statement.

The woman, 31, reportedly told officers at the scene that she has differences with President Donald Trump.

Police said the woman, who was driving a 2010 Honda with California license plates, approached the building from the south, drove around police and onto the sidewalk where she struck a barricade around 4 a.m. She was not injured and police quickly took her into custody.

Chicago police have been routinely stationed outside the skyscraper at 401 North Wabash in recent months, but CPD beefed up their presence following last week’s US Capitol riot.
