Group beats, robs man in Mag Mile parking garage

Five men beat, robbed, and stole property from a man’s car Friday evening inside a parking garage on the Magnificent Mile, police said. A source said the group tried to take his vehicle, too, but that effort failed.

According to CPD, the five offenders got out of a black Honda CR-V that was parked inside the garage at 120 East Walton and approached the man as he tried to get into his own car around 7:45 p.m.

They began pushing and punching the man throughout his body, and one of the offenders went into the back seat of the victim’s car to take a bag.

The victim, who experienced head and rib pain, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

No arrests have been made. Area Three detectives are investigating.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
