Shots fired, man stabbed during brawl outside Loop hotel

Shots were fired and a man suffered stab wounds during a brawl outside a downtown hotel early Sunday. No one was struck by the gunfire, according to police.

The argument broke out around 2:17 a.m. in front of LondonHouse Hotel, 85 East Wacker, in the Loop. Police said a 36-year-old man involved in the altercation received four stab wounds to his hip and leg.

Police in the area also reported hearing shots fired, and shell casings were found at the scene. According to an officer at the scene, video showed someone in the crowd might have fired a gun into the air during the fight.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police detained a suspect for questioning who resembled the man who fired shots.

According to a CPD statement, the person who stabbed the victim is a bearded man who may be Hispanic. He stands about 6-feet tall, weighs about 210 pounds, and was wearing blue jeans.

The stabbing victim has a criminal record that includes felony gun convictions, according to state records. Police at the scene said he and witnesses to the incident were not cooperating with CPD’s investigation.
