A group of armed carjackers took a man’s Mercedes at gunpoint as he filled the tank at a West Town service station Wednesday evening, police said.
The 31-year-old man was pumping gas into his black 2016 Mercedes S550 when two cars pulled up near him at the BP station, 1600 North Elston, around 9:15 p.m.
A man emerged from one of the cars — a blue Ford Escape — and pointed a handgun at him while demanding his keys, according to Officer Ronald Westbrooks, a CPD spokesperson.
The victim complied, and the gunman drove the Mercedes northbound on Elston accompanied by the Ford and a gray Kia sedan.
Westbrooks said the gunman is a Black male who wore a red hoodie and light blue jeans. No descriptions were available for the occupants of the other two cars that were involved in the hijacking.
Area Five detectives are investigating.
