Burglar is targeting businesses in West Loop and West Town, cops say

A serial burglar is targeting commercial buildings and offices in the West Loop and West Town, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The thief has pried open doors to five businesses in the neighborhood this month to steal laptops, tools, and other valuables, police said.

Area Three detectives said the burglar is responsible for break-ins:

  • in the 400 block of North Ada at 2:30 a.m. March 4
  • in the 1400 block of West Carroll at 3:30 a.m. March 7
  • in the 1400 block of West Carroll at 12:15 a.m. March 18
  • in the 400 block of North Aberdeen between 3:20 a.m. and 9 a.m. March 24
  • in the 1500 block of West Carroll sometime on March 24 or 25

Police did not release a description of the offender.
