A 40-year-old man was beaten and robbed at the Belmont CTA station in Lakeview on Friday evening, police said. Four teenagers, four male and a female, attacked the victim as he left the platform shortly before 9 p.m., according to Officer Jose Jara, a CPD spokesperson.
Jara said the victim suffered a bloody nose and lip but did not want medical services. The offenders got away with the man’s wallet, which contained about $1,000 cash and a ring.
Officers reviewed CTA surveillance footage and saw the offenders board a northbound Brown Line train immediately after the attack. Cops who watched the video provided descriptions of four attackers:
- a Black male who wore a gray jacket, blue jeans, and Timberland boots
- a Black male who wore black and white-striped joggers
- a Black male who wore a blue hoodie under a black jacket
- a black male who wore a black jacket
Area Three detectives are investigating.
