Prosecutors have charged a Chicago man with committing one more robbery in a string of hold-ups across Lakeview and Lincoln Park in January.
Delvon Brown, 22, has been in custody since prosecutors charged him with several counts in connection with the crime spree, which ended when the allegedly stolen car he was riding in crashed in Streeterville shortly after the last robbery was reported.
Now, prosecutors have charged him with aggravated robbery of a 25-year-old man on the 1100 block of West Barry around 4:15 p.m. on January 21. Prosecutors said the victim identified Brown as one of the offenders who got out of a car and took his iPhone at gunpoint.
Judge Charles Beach ordered Brown held in lieu of $100,000 in the new charge.
Moments after robbing the man on Barry, the crew allegedly rolled up on a woman and robbed her of her phone in the 900 block of West Wolfram.
One of the attackers pushed her against a car, jabbed a gun in her waist, and took her phone, prosecutors said.
Minutes later, they pulled to a stop on the 400 block of West Wrightwood and robbed a 27-year-old man who was standing on the sidewalk, according to Officer Alex Aguas, a CPD spokesperson.
Two males got out of the car, and one of them pointed a handgun at the victim, ordering him to surrender his wallet and phone, Aguas said.
The victim complied, and the robbers returned to their car, which sped onto Lakeview Avenue — directly in front of the detective who ran the car’s Arkansas plate and learned the vehicle had been stolen Wednesday, according to a CPD report.
The detective followed the crew as they drove down Lake Shore Drive to Streeterville, where the car crashed.
Two suspects fled from the car. One was arrested inside a nearby parking garage. Cops found another one on the 400 block of East Erie.
Police found a toy handgun on the passenger side of the vehicle. Brown, who allegedly ran from the car’s passenger seat, was carrying property from the Wrightwood and Wolfram victims when cops arrested him, prosecutors said.
In addition to the newly-filed aggravated robbery charge, Brown is charged with theft in the Wolfram case, aggravated robbery in the Wrightwood case, and criminal trespass to a vehicle.
Two juveniles have also been charged in connection with the crimes.
