Man shot while driving in Lincoln Square

A 45-year-old man was shot Monday morning while driving in Lincoln Square, police said. No arrests have been made.

The victim was driving in the 2800 block of West Lawrence around 6:23 a.m. when shots were fired from another vehicle, according to a CPD statement and a police report. One round struck the man in his back.

He continued driving after being shot until he arrived at a service station on the 5100 block of North Broadway, the report said. A relative drove him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital from there.

Police reportedly found the victim’s BMW X5 at the gas station with a bullet hole in the trunk and a flat tire.

An officer at Northwestern said the victim was alert and talking when he arrived for treatment.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
