A gunman opened fire on a group of people during an argument in Irving Park late Saturday, leaving an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said. No arrests have been made.
The victim was standing with several other people on a sidewalk in the 4100 block of North Kedzie when the incident started around 11:35 p.m., according to a CPD media statement. Police said the altercation escalated and an offender fired shots at the group, then fled in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Eight shell casings were found lying in Kedzie Avenue, an officer said.
One bullet struck the victim in his lower left leg. Police applied a tourniquet to reduce his blood loss before an ambulance arrived. He was then taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.
Detectives are investigating the shooting.
