Car thief steals pizza driver’s SUV — and her daughters — in Lakeview, cops say

Car thieves stole a pizza delivery driver’s car with two of the victim’s children inside Thursday evening in Lakeview, according to a CPD report. When the offender realized he stole a couple of kids in addition to the car, he let them out a couple of blocks down the road. No injuries were reported.

Police said the driver, a 33-year-old woman, left her car running with her two daughters inside while she made a delivery on the 1300 block of West Wolfram around 8:10 p.m. While she was out of the car, a green minivan pulled up, and a man got out. He climbed into her Honda CR-V and drove away — with the woman’s 11-month-old and 12-year-old daughters inside.

The thief pulled over on the 1500 block of West Wolfram so the kids could get out of the car, according to police. He then sped away northbound on Ashland, the CPD report said. Cops reportedly found the stolen Honda crashed and abandoned near 47th Street and Dearborn in the Grand Crossing neighborhood around 8:30 p.m.

CPD did not release descriptions of the suspects. Area Three detectives are investigating.
