Two hijackers used a baseball bat to break a woman’s car window and then forced the victim and her 2-year-old daughter from the vehicle in Wicker Park on Wednesday night, police said. No arrests have been made.
Police said victims were sitting in the car on the 1200 block of North Hoyne around 11:36 p.m. when two offenders walked up to the scene. One of the men broke out the driver’s window with a bat and ordered the woman and child out of their white 2017 Cadillac sedan, according to CPD.
Both carjackers then entered the car and drove away northbound on Hoyne. Neither the woman nor her child was injured. The woman’s husband works in a nearby restaurant, according to a CPD report.
Officers at the scene described the suspects as two Black males in their teens or early 20’s. One is about 5’11” tall and wore dark clothing. The other is about 5’8” tall and wore a colorful shirt, they said. One offender reportedly had a knife and the other had the bat.
Area Five detectives are investigating.
