Woman jumped, robbed inside her Lakeview apartment building, police say

A woman was jumped and robbed inside her apartment building near Boystown on Thursday morning, police said. Detectives are looking for the offender.

The 27-year-old woman was in a common area of her apartment complex in the 600 block of West Grace when the man grabbed her from behind around 11:40 a.m., CPD spokesperson Kellie Bartoli said.

He covered the woman’s mouth with his hand, took her property, and ran from the building, Bartoli continued. The woman declined medical attention. She rode around the area with police as they searched for the suspect, but they did not find him.

Bartoli said the offender is a White male between 20- and 40-years-old. Officers at the scene said he stood about 5’11” tall and wore a black coat and mask.

Area Three detectives are investigating.

Lakeview 7-Eleven robbed

Police are looking for the armed man who robbed a Lakeview convenience store Wednesday evening.

The offender displayed a handgun as he held up a cashier at 7-Eleven, 1425 West Montrose, just before 9 p.m. After collecting valuables from the clerk, the suspect ran south on Clark Street.

He is described as a Black male who wore a gray hoodie, white baseball cap, blue surgical mask, jeans, and black and white gym shoes.
