A 23-year-old man is in serious condition after someone shot him in an Avondale alley Sunday evening, police said. The man was with a group of people behind the 2800 block of West Fletcher when a car pulled up, and someone began shooting at him around 6:37 p.m., according to police.
Two bullets struck the man in his shoulder, and a third hit him in the face. Paramedics took him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, police said.
Investigators found a handgun, eight shell casings, and a car at the scene. They were working to determine if the shooter owns the vehicle, whose registered owner lives about a block away. Area Five Detectives are investigating.
Residents who live on the block where the shooting unfolded have had a memorable week.
Around 8:30 Wednesday night, a man parked his Hyundai Sonata and ran into a store while his uncle sat in the car on the 2800 block of West Fletcher, a police report said. Two men then approached the car and robbed the uncle at gunpoint, the report said. They then ordered the man out of the car and drove away with it.
The car crashed about a block west on Fletcher, and the offenders ran from the scene. They were described as a skinny Black male between 25- and 30-years-old who stands about 6-feet tall and a heavyset Hispanic man who’s about 5’8″ tall. Both men reportedly wore black clothes and masks.
