Hijacking crew swings through West Rogers Park and Lincoln Square; 4 cases reported Monday night

A group of carjackers is suspected of committing three hijackings Monday evening in West Rogers Park and Lincoln Square. The offenders, who apparently failed in a fourth attempt, remain at large.

The robberies began around 7:40 p.m. on the 3000 block of West Hood. That’s when a hijacker stepped out of a white Volkswagen, pushed a woman, and took her Lexus RX350. Later, three more cases were reported in under 30 minutes.

Finally, around 10:50 p.m., a man got out of a white Volkswagen and took a woman’s red Nissan Rogue at gunpoint on the 2500 block of West Fitch, according to a CPD report.

One offender was described as a Black male in his early 20’s who wore a blue hoodie with camouflage pants and black Air Force 1 shoes.
