Man sexually abuses woman near Grand Blue Line, police say

A woman was grabbed and sexually abused by a man as she walked from a West Town convenience store on Thursday evening, according to a CPD report.

The woman, 45, was walking in the 600 block of North Halsted when the offender approached her from behind around 10 p.m., said Kellie Bartoli, a CPD spokesperson.

He grabbed the woman’s private areas and ran when she screamed, Bartoli said. The offender was last seen heading south on Halsted and then west on Erie.

He is described as a Black male in his early 20s with short hair who stands 5’10” to 6-feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds, Bartoli said. He was wearing a white t-shirt, light blue jeans, and a COVID mask.

The victim declined medical attention.

Area Three detectives are handling the investigation.
