A 28-year-old man was shot while riding in a car with his girlfriend in the West Loop on Sunday afternoon, according to a CPD report. No arrests have been made.
The couple was in a white Lexus on the 1500 block of West Madison when someone began shooting at the man from an SUV around 1:13 p.m., police said. At least two rounds struck him in the back. His girlfriend drove him to Rush University Medical Center, and he was later transferred to Stroger Hospital. In a media statement, CPD said he was “initially reported in good condition.”
CTA buses were temporarily rerouted as police investigated the shooting and collected shell casings from the intersection of Laflin and Madison streets. Police found four bullet holes in the girlfriend’s car.
Some witnesses said the gunman was a Black male with long dreads who fired from the passenger side of a black Jaguar SUV, which fled south on Laflin after the shooting. He was wearing a red cap and a white t-shirt.
