Police are warning about a violent home invasion and sexual assault that occurred Monday morning in Humboldt Park.
According to a CPD report, a 26-year-old woman was in her bedroom on the 2800 block of West Division when a masked man broke into her apartment by removing a window air conditioning unit around 4:30 a.m. Monday, July 12. The intruder made the woman go through her apartment with him to find valuables.
Then, he sexually assaulted the woman multiple times while hitting her repeatedly in her face and body, police said in a community alert Saturday.
The victim eventually freed herself and ran from the building to get help, police said. She was treated at St. Mary’s Hospital.
According to CPD’s alert, the offender is a Black male between 25- and 35-years-old. He’s thin, 6-feet tall, has short black hair, and wore a ski mask with a long-sleeve black top, police said.
