Update: Keith, Pappy, and Stella are safe and have been reunited with their humans. Chicago police found the van abandoned Thursday night in a lot on the West Side. All three dogs were still inside.
Police are pounding the pavement in search of a cargo van that someone stole from outside a Lakeview doggy daycare center with three pooches onboard Thursday afternoon.
Three pups — a Great Dane and two Shorthaired Pointers — were inside the white cargo van when the driver left it unattended behind Dogaholics, 3608 North Southport, around 2:50 p.m., according to CPD Officer Michelle Tannehill and posts to the company’s Facebook page.
Tannehill said the driver left the keys in the ignition, but the doors were locked. But when he returned, someone was driving away with the white Nissan NV 2500 and the dogs, named Keith, Pappy, and Stella, were onboard. The van’s license plate number is 1781495B.
“If you know anything at all or see our white [van] please call 911 or call us at 773.549.900,” the company said in a Facebook post shortly after 3 p.m.
Area Three detectives are investigating.
