Update October 30, 1:01 p.m. — CWBChicago has communicated with the woman who was targeted on Roscoe Street. She provided many more details than CPD, which we will include in an updated story. Among other things, the woman reports that there were two offenders who tried to carjack her, but they were unable to take her vehicle. They then fled and, apparently, carjacked the other victim nearby.
“People need to realize that you can do everything right and it is still a problem,” she warns.
Armed carjackers took a man’s car in Lakeview on Friday evening just moments after they robbed a woman nearby. No arrests have been made, and neither victim reported any injuries, police said.
First, a 23-year-old woman was sitting inside a car on the 1000 block of West Roscoe when a man walked up and demanded her property around 7:28 p.m., Officer Alex Aguas said. The woman complied with the robber’s demands, and he fled.
Moments later and steps away, two gunmen robbed a 40-year-old man who was sitting inside a silver Toyota Prius on the 3300 block of North Seminary, Aguas said.
One of the robbers put a gun to the victim’s head and forced him from his vehicle. The two hijackers were last seen heading west on Roscoe Street in the victim’s car.
The suspects were described in one report as Black males in their early to mid-20s who wore masks.
Area Three detectives are investigating.
