A 33-year-old woman was shot while driving in Avondale late Sunday night, police said.
The victim was driving south on the 3200 block of North Elston, near Brands Park, when a man shot at her from a dark-colored sedan around 11:15 p.m., according to a CPD statement.
One round struck the woman behind her right ear. She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said. An officer at the scene said the bullet appeared to strike the woman’s seat before hitting her.
Area Three detectives are handling the investigation.
The shooting unfolded about a half-mile from where a 60-year-old man was shot while driving on Sunday morning.
In that case, the victim was stopped at a stop sign on the 3000 block of West Addison around 4:36 a.m. when the gunman began firing from inside a white BMW X3, police said. Bullets struck the man in his back and arm, leaving him in critical condition. Investigators found 14 shell casings at the intersection. The man reportedly told police that he thought the offenders were trying to carjack him.
