Police are investigating after someone fatally beat a man during a “struggle” inside his South Loop apartment Tuesday evening.
Neighbors first called police around 9:17 p.m. to report the sounds of people fighting and a man screaming for help in the apartment, which is in a high-rise on the 2100 block of South Michigan.
Officers found the apartment door unlocked and the victim, a 56-year-old man, inside the unit with head trauma, according to a CPD statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man did not appear to have any injuries elsewhere on his body, police said.
Officials have not released the victim’s name to the public, but his online presence indicates that he most recently worked as an actor and cable access programming host.
Area Three detectives are handling the investigation.
