Police investigate Monday shootings in Edgewater, West Town

Shootings left men injured in Edgewater on Monday afternoon and in West Town about two hours later, according to Chicago police. No arrests have been made.

In Edgewater, police said a man of unknown age was walking in the 5200 block of North Sheridan when he was shot around 4:23 p.m. EMS took him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition with a gunshot wound to his left arm.

A witness who was in the nearby Mariano’s said the man frequents the area and is known to disturb local businesses.

Police were unable to locate shell casings and did not receive calls of shots fired in the area, according to dispatch records.

Then, at 6:33 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot by a gunman who opened fire on him from a car on the 2500 block of West Augusta in West Town.

Police said the victim, who suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and back, was taken to Stroger Hospital. His condition stabilized there, according to a CPD statement.

Investigators found one shell casing at the scene. Witnesses said the shots came from a white car, possibly an Infiniti.

Area Three detectives are handling both investigations.
