An Amazon delivery driver was carjacked at gunpoint in Boystown on Tuesday evening. A few hours later, armed men robbed a convenience store on the corner of Roscoe and Halsted streets in the heart of the city’s LGBTQ nightlife district. Police have not announced any arrests.
The 26-year-old delivery driver was in his white Nissan Rogue on the 700 block of West Aldine when a gunman emerged from a black SUV and forced him from his car around 7:30 p.m., police said.
Both vehicles then fled east on Aldine. CPD did not release any suspect descriptions.
Then, around 12:32 a.m., three men entered the 7-Eleven store at 3407 North Halsted and confronted the clerk with two handguns, according to a CPD report.
Police said the men collected cash, cigarettes, and liquor, then fled in a maroon SUV. A second vehicle, believed to be a silver or white Nissan SUV, was also seen leaving the scene, according to a police report.
The store robbers were described as Black males between 20- and 26-years-old. One suspect wore an orange and black sweater, another wore a black sweater with gray pants, and the third wore all black clothing, according to initial information from the scene.
Area Three detectives are investigating both crimes.
