Police are warning about an armed robbery crew that has struck three times over the past week — once in Old Town and twice in River North. Each time, between one and four offenders wearing ski masks took the victim’s valuables at gunpoint and fled in a black vehicle, according to a Chicago police alert.
Most recently, four masked men confronted a man with handguns on the 500 block of North Franklin around 12:45 a.m. Monday, according to information from the alert and a CPD report. The victim believed the offenders escaped in a black Porsche.
On Saturday, a 28-year-old man who was reportedly in town for a bachelor party said three men pointed a gun at him and forced him to withdraw money from an ATM as he walked in River North. It happened at Fifth Third Bank, 33 West Huron, around 1 a.m.
The first robbery police linked to the crew occurred at the BP service station, 1647 North LaSalle, around 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 8. In that case, a masked man displayed a gun and took purses and wallets from the victims. He fled in a black SUV, according to a CPD report.
Police said the suspects are Black males between 20- and 40-years-old who stand 5’10” to 6’2″ tall.
