Cops seek man who stabbed, robbed Red Line passenger in Lakeview

Chicago police are asking for help as they try to find the man who stabbed and robbed a passenger aboard a Red Line train in Lakeview early Monday.

A 44-year-old man was riding with a companion in the first car of a southbound train when the robber stabbed him and took his property around 4:40 a.m., according to a CPD bulletin and a separate report.

The offender fled from the train when it reached the Belmont station, 945 West Belmont. Meanwhile, the victim and the witness stayed on the train and sought help when it reached the next stop at Fullerton, the report said.

EMS transported the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. A CPD spokesperson said suffered a stab wound to his upper right chest near the shoulder. The injuries are listed as “minor” in the police report.

Police released an image of the suspect, seen above, whom they believe is between 30- and 35-years old.
