Gun and meth charges filed against man found sleeping in Lakeview apartment, prosecutors say

Prosecutors have filed a host of felony charges against a man who was allegedly found naked in a Lakeview man’s bed Tuesday morning.

Police responded to an apartment on the 900 block of West Dakin around 11:50 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a naked man lying in bed and refusing to leave. The caller said they saw a gun in the man’s jacket, according to dispatch records.

The caller told police he walked into his roommate’s room and saw a stranger lying naked in bed with the roommate — and the roommate said he didn’t know the guy, according to prosecutors. Cops went to the bedroom and arrested Kentrell Taylor, age 32.

They found a gun in his backpack along with seven grams of methamphetamine, nine Ritalin pills, scales with white residue, and two IDs bearing fake names, prosecutors said. Cops also allegedly recovered a loaded ammunition magazine from Taylor’s jacket pocket.

Prosecutors charged Taylor with Class X armed violence, delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful use of a weapon by felon, manufacture-delivery, possessing a fictitious ID, and assorted misdemeanors.

Judge Susana Ortiz said he must post a $25,000 deposit toward his $250,000 bail to get out of mail on electronic monitoring on the charges. But she also ordered him held without bail on DuPage County warrants for retail theft and burglary and an Indiana warrant for failure to appear on a methamphetamine dealing charge.

Taylor was due back in court on April 21.
