Chicago police have released new details about a shooting that left a man dead inside a Streeterville hotel Sunday. More than a dozen shots were fired during the incident around 5 a.m. in a second-floor hallway at Sonesta ES Suites, 201 East Walton.
Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan said a group of women rented a hotel room and then went down an emergency exit to allow several men inside. Portions of this were captured on video, Deenihan said.
A confrontation began when the men arrived on the second floor, leading to a shootout in the hallway. Officers at the scene said they found at least 16 shell casings throughout the second-floor hallway with bullet holes along the walls.Â
An 18-year-old man was killed. He has not been publicly identified. Police found a handgun next to him, according to Deenihan.
He said investigators are trying to track down the shooters’ getaway car.
