Boy, 17, charged with committing 3 armed robberies on CTA train lines

Prosecutors have charged 17-year-old with committing three armed robberies on CTA trains and platforms. At least two of the robberies involved groups of teenagers that attacked victims, according to Chicago police records.

He is accused of participating in two hold-ups on the evening of October 3.

In one case, a 33-year-old man reported that about eight juveniles attacked him on the Cermak Green Line platform, 12 East Cermak. One offender reportedly displayed a knife.

A few minutes later, police responded to a similar robbery at the Roosevelt station.

The third robbery also happened at Roosevelt. A 20-year-old man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint at the station around 8:20 a.m. on February 22.

Police did not release any other information about the teen or how investigators determined that he was involved in the crimes.
