Man, 23, critically wounded in Lincoln Park shooting

Update 11:29 a.m. — The man was shot during an armed robbery that was caught on video. The hold-up is part of a two-night wave of robberies in Lakeview and Lincoln Park that claimed at least eight victims.


A man is in critical condition after someone shot him on a Lincoln Park side street overnight, Chicago police said. CPD released few details about what led up to the shooting on the 1300 block of West Webster at 3:05 a.m.

The police were called to the area after 911 callers reported hearing shots fired and seeing a man down. They found the victim with two gunshot wounds to his back and one to his head, according to a CPD statement that said the victim is in his 20s. Online records indicate the man is 23-years-old.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

Police found three shell casings. An officer at the scene described the gunman as a Black male who fled north on Wayne Street in a white sedan.

Friday’s shooting is the first of the year for Lincoln Park, according to CPD records. In comparison, there were two at this point last year, one by May 6, 2020, and none at this time in 2019.
