Man sexually assaults Old Town woman after following her from a CTA bus stop, police say

A man followed a woman from a River North bus stop and then sexually assaulted her in Old Town on Monday night, Chicago police said Wednesday. Area Three detectives released these CTA surveillance images of the man.

In a very brief community alert devoid of detail, police said the man sexually assaulted the woman on the 1700 block of North Wells around 11 p.m. Monday “after following her from the CTA bus stop located on the 500 block of North State Street.”

When asked if the man followed the woman on a CTA bus, such as the #36 Broadway, which stops on the 500 block of North State and near the 1700 block of North Wells, a CPD spokesperson said they have no other information about the case.

The victim said the man is about 6’1″ tall and 45- to 55-years-old, according to CPD dispatch records.
