Man stabbed during altercation on Blue Line train near Damen

Police are investigating after a 39-year-old man was stabbed on a Blue Line train near the Damen station in Wicker Park on Saturday evening. He told police he was riding an inbound train when the offender stabbed him with a knife after a verbal altercation around 10:45 p.m., CPD said.

According to the victim, the offender kicked him in the face and tried to stab him in the neck, but he blocked the knife and suffered cuts to the right side of his face and an arm instead.

The victim exited at Clark-Lake to seek help while the offender continued riding. EMS took him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

He described the offender an older, possibly homeless man.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
