Armed robberies reported in North Center, Lakeview overnight

Police are investigating two overnight armed robberies in the Lakeview-based Town Hall (19th) District. Robberies in Town Hall are up 66% this year compared to last year and 27% compared to 2018.

A CPD spokesperson said that around 1:16 a.m., two armed robbers held a man and woman at gunpoint and forced them to lie on the ground in the 4300 block of North Damen. The robbers took the victim’s belongings and headed east on Montrose.

The victims, a 28-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, were not injured. They described the robbers as two Black males wearing black hoodies pulled tightly around their heads.

Then, around 2 a.m., two armed men confronted a 22-year-old man in the 600 block of West Oakdale in Lakeview. They forced him to walk to an ATM and withdraw money, which they took, the police spokesperson said.

The suspects are two Black males who stand about 5’10” tall. One wore a black “AntiSocial” hoodie and the other had dreads, according to officers at the scene. They were last seen heading south on Broadway.
