Police say a 28-year-old man suffered a graze wound during a drive-by in Uptown overnight. The victim was on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of North Winthrop when the gunman rolled by in a black sedan and opened fire on him at 12:01 a.m., according to a CPD statement.
The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center by EMS for treatment of a graze wound on his left leg.
Some witnesses said at least two men stepped out of the car to shoot at the man, but the CPD statement said shots were fired from inside the vehicle.
Ten people have been shot in Uptown so far this year, which is comparable to recent years. At this point last year, there were eleven victims, nine in 2020, and ten as of this date in 2019.
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
