Chicago police are investigating after someone shot a 17-year-old boy in an Edgewater pharmacy parking lot Wednesday afternoon.
The teen was on a bicycle in the CVS parking lot, 6150 North Broadway, when a group of people approached him, and one fired a shot, striking him in the lower back around 12:50 p.m.
Police found several shell casings in the store’s parking lot as cops searched the area for a red Chevy Cruze that was seen speeding away west on Granville. Officers believe the car was recently stolen in Skokie and fled from Chicago police on the North Side earlier this week.
Officials did not release a description of the gunman. Officers at the scene said the victim was talking, but he refused to discuss what happened to him.
So far this year, eight people have been shot in Edgewater, according to city records. The neighborhood had three shooting victims at this point last year and two as of this date in 2020.
