Man shot in Rogers Park overnight

Police are trying to drum up leads after a man was shot in the parking lot of a Roger Park fast food restaurant overnight. So far, they don’t have much to go on.

The 47-year-old victim was in the parking lot of Popeye’s, 1959 West Howard, when he heard gunfire around 1:30 a.m., according to police. He suffered two gunshot wounds to his wrist and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition, according to a CPD media statement.

Investigators found one shell casing in the parking lot, but they had no information about the gunman.

There have been 20 people shot in Rogers Park so far this year. Authorities determined one of those was justifiable self-defense. The neighborhood had 17 shooting victims at this point last year.
