Man shot while driving in River North on Saturday evening

Chicago police are investigating after a man was shot while driving in River North on Saturday evening. The victim, 38, was heading south in the 400 block of North LaSalle when at least one gunman shot at him from a black Jeep Cherokee around 8:55 p.m., according to CPD.

Officers who were in the area reported hearing shots fired. They found the victim lying near his silver 2022 Toyota Supra at the corner of LaSalle and Illinois. He had a gunshot wound to his cheek, and bullet holes were visible in the car’s front windshield.

EMS took the victim to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

According to witnesses, the shooters headed south in the Jeep, then turned east on Hubbard.

The victim is the 23rd person shot in River North this year, up from 14 victims at the same point last year. The neighborhood had 11 shooting victims as of this date in 2020 and nine in 2019.
