Chicago police say a group of men robbed an Amazon delivery driver in Lakeview on Wednesday morning, but no arrests have been made.

The 23-year-old driver was returning to his delivery vehicle when a black Jeep Cherokee pulled up behind him in the 3400 block of North Lake Shore Drive around 11:50 a.m., a police spokesperson said.

A man wearing a ski mask emerged from the Jeep and implied that he had a weapon, prompting the delivery driver to run for safety.

Three or four men, along with the original offender, opened the back door of the victim’s vehicle and stole packages from inside, according to CPD. They all returned to the Jeep and headed south.

Police said the Jeep had a broken rear passenger window covered with a black garbage bag.

The robbery is the latest hold-up in CPD’s Town Hall (19th) District, where robberies are up 48% compared to last year and 12% compared to 2018, according to police department statistics.
